My Compositions

My work as a composer is deeply informed by my life as a performer. I am passionate about writing for the entire woodwind family, often focusing on chamber settings and unique combinations that are rarely explored. Because I understand these instruments from the perspective of a multi-instrumentalist, I aim to write music that is both challenging and accessible—exemplified by Shared Connection, a septet written specifically for C flutes. My catalog spans from duets to larger ensembles, including specialized trios for contra-alto and contrabass clarinet. My style is a reflection of my varied influences: it often dances between Neo-Baroque structures and modern tonality, utilizing extended techniques to enhance the emotional landscape. Whether writing in a strictly tonal idiom or exploring complex textures, my goal is always to highlight the unique "voice" of the ensemble or solo instrument.
