Owen G. Davitt is a modern and historical woodwind multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music educator based in New Jersey. He is actively involved in several ensembles, serving as a recorder and early wind player (chalumeau and capped reeds) with the La Fiocco period instrument ensemble, as an oboist with the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra and New Jersey Opera Theater, and as a low clarinetist with the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir and throughout the region.
As a composer, Owen enjoys working with a wide array of instruments and has a robust catalog of works for solo and woodwind chamber ensembles. His compositions have been performed by acclaimed ensembles such as Double Entendre, the National Youth Recorder Orchestra of Great Britain, La Fiocco, the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir, Palisades Virtuosi, Uptown Flutes, and the BETA Quartet. In addition to his performance career, Owen is the Minister of Music and Organist at St. Matthew’s & St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Paramus, NJ, a board member of the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir, and the oboe instructor at Wharton Performing Arts School. He is also the co-founder and co-owner of the music publishing company D.S. Musiks.
